Standard Bank of South Africa has a colorful history.    Back in 1862, the bank was opened under the name of The Standard Bank of British South Africa and bank operations commenced in the same year.  The term “British” was dropped in 1883 and the bank came to be known simply as The Standard Bank of South Africa.  Today, the bank is reputed to be the leading and largest bank in South Africa.  The bank has its presence in 18 sub – Saharan countries in Africa and to at least 21 countries in other continents, including the main financial hubs in Europe, United States and in Asia.

Their official website, www.standardbank.co.za, provides a wealth of information on the different services offered to their different clients.  There is a section for Personal Banking, Business Banking and Corporate and Institution Clients.  Standard Bank Internet Banking is found in the Personal section under Self – Service Banking.  It is just one of the self – service banking options offered by the bank.  Standard Bank Internet Banking is perhaps the most flexible way to do banking and manage your accounts.  Internet banking allows you to attend to your bank transactions at any time of the day, at any day of the week.  This is the convenience of internet banking.  Standard Bank Internet Banking is fast, secure and easy to use.   This service allows you to access all your accounts, view your statements, pay your bills or even open a savings account.

To gain access to Standard Bank Internet Banking, you must first register and it requires that you have a valid ATM PIN, a MasterCard credit, an AutoBank, a Business AutoBank or an E-Plan card.    Once you have all your bank details, you can now sign up.  Just follow these simple steps:

  1. Go to www.standardbank.co.za  and click on the “Go” button beside “Internet Banking” link found on the top – right hand corner of the site
  2. On the next page, select “New Registration” found on the menu at the left – hand side
  3. Enter the details requested then click “Register”
  4. Continue to follow the on – screen instructions until you complete the registration process

You can now log – on anytime to manage your accounts.  Just go to the same website, select internet banking, type in your account number and password and hit “Logon.”  You will now see your account homepage.
